HER Story

While some publicists sugarcoat the facts— not Susan Gold. This powerhouse with decades of experience approaches every client with kindness —but more importantly, a no-nonsense approach to branding and media relations. This East Coaster was lured to the West to produce celebrity interviews for some of the most influential major networks, including BRAVO, Sundance and others. Her clients appeared on NBC, Vh-1, and plenty of other impressive channels. Throughout her tenure, she’s experienced plenty of highs and lows, but it is her innate leader character that keeps her going.

These days, she represents female entrepreneurs and philanthropists, health leaders and emerging brands. If she sounds busy—she is, but she still makes time for her passion of fitness, and lucky for us, to share insights from her career. Here, a deeper look into the fascinating life of what it takes to reach the ‘Gold’ standard in her industry:

JT: What inspired you to launch your company?

SG: I set up a movie at Universal starring Owen Wilson and sold a celebrity bowling game show for pilot syndication at Buena Vista. I thought this is it, my big Hollywood dream is coming true.  Ultimately, neither of those projects were greenlit and being the family breadwinner, I re-tooled and went to leveraging brands and dealmaking.

JT: What was the greatest hurdle you faced getting started?

SG: It’s a little surprising to admit, but a bit of fear of judgment of others and probably understanding how to value my talents, capabilities, and services.

I’m really proud because I put my money where my mouth is and followed my own advice about taking the next right action and we now have international sales, a feature in Forbes and Title 9 is encouraging us to apply for their 2019 Pitchfest.

JK: What were your biggest hopes for your website?

SG: My biggest hope for my website is that it would translate clearly for me as a professional and outline what I do and why it’s unique and of great worth.

JT: What about for your brand?

SG: My biggest hope for my brand is that word of mouth would travel and I would have multiple projects, always.

JT: What did you learn through the process?

SG: I learned through the process to be patient, not to be afraid of humility, always considering a win/win mentality for all, that I’m not alone and I have great courage, integrity, and strength.

JT: Who inspires you?

SG: I grab inspiration from a few of my favorite spiritual teachers like Matt Kahn, other businesswomen like Jacquie Jordan at TVGuestpert.com and certainly my 14-year-old son and our newly adopted rescue dog who is on her fourth home in her five years.

JT: What are your greatest goals for the next few months?

SG: My greatest goals for the next few months are to continue to expand my outreach in business development and to continue to place increased value on what I do.

JT: What advice would you give to aspiring female entrepreneurs?

SG: My best advice for aspiring female entrepreneurs is to keep your expectations promising yet minimal and just take the next right action.  It’s something I did in my side hobby/business which is an activewear line for land and water. I created something called splashpants from scratch out of personal need and am slowly building the baby brand.
